Sovereignty and the nature of rights, violence, race and critical animal studies. At present he is exploring the way in which non-human animals are constructed within rights discourses, and the possibilities for using contemporary theories of sovereignty to reframe our understanding of violence towards non-humans. The research examines the relationship between non-human life and the political sphere, with the aim of understanding the political dimension of the relationships between humans and non-human animals, and extracting relevant implications for thinking about race, gender and disability
