Expertise: Centre on medical science and technologies, particularly those which are controversial and pose challenges to human embodiment, identity and ontology, and the nation-state. As a result, her research traverses science and technology studies; health, medicine and illness; globalisation; and tourism. Peta’s current work includes an examination of sociocultural assessments of and reactions to xenotransplantation (animal-to-human transplantation), the sociology of cancer, and health and medical tourism
