Primary area of interest is the social and environmental implications of technology: impact of computer-mediated-communication on interpersonal relations and personal identity; virtual reality, the transformation of human knowledge (from knowledge embedded in sense-based experience to knowledge separated from experience) and the consequences of this for human life, society, and the biosphere; impact of robotics, nanotechnology etc. on human labour ( unemployment, underemployment, precarious work, alienation, etc.) ; preventive conceptual models for better understanding and regulating the influence of modern technology; ‘technique’ and the rationalization of human life.
