I have a research lab (Room C319L at the KLO campus) that works on the magnetic properties of environmental materials. Working with two undergraduate students, I am investigating the relationships between coastal erosion and concentrations of magnetic minerals in beach sediments. I am also working with Paul Ransom on paleomagnetic aspects of tectonics in the Hughes Range. That project is funded by the BC Geoscience Foundation.
I am very interested in new developments in post-secondary geography education, and am currently collaborating with Rachel Spronken-Smith of the University of Otago to write an article on pedagogy and field work for the soon-to-be-published AAG Encyclopedia of Geography.
