Dr. Rice has published numerous research articles and presented her research findings at a number of regional, national, and international conferences. The primary focus of her research is on trauma, social justice, and social change. She is active on a number of research projects that explores the benefits of international service learning projects in fostering compassion as well as examining ways of helping those who experienced trauma, and that utilizes the expressive arts to raise awareness and activate social change. She is a reviewer for a number of journals including: Advances in Social Work, Journal of Baccalaureate Social Work, and Contemporary Rural Social Work.
