The Department of Human Development and Family Science (HDFS), through a partnership with the Department of Defense (DoD) and the US Department of Agriculture - National Institute of Food and Agriculture (USDA/NIFA), is seeking candidates for the position of Postdoctoral Fellow to support the work of Military REACH. Military REACH provides high-quality resources to the DoD in the form of research reports and professional development tools across the spectrum of family support, resilience, and readiness. In collaboration with the larger research team, this individual will assist in the summarizing and synthesizing of family science research for target audiences, including policymakers, helping professionals, and military families. This position requires advanced research literacy and considerable writing experience, such that candidates must be able to interpret statistical models, critically evaluate individual studies and bodies of literature, and translate research into everyday language to explain scientific findings to audiences without a research background.

This is a one-year limited term appointment; continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funding and job performance.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
This individual will work collaboratively with the Military REACH research team to plan, oversee, and complete research products, such as summaries of research articles and literature reviews addressing topics pertinent to the grant’s target audiences. These tasks require an advanced level of social science research knowledge, including qualitative and quantitative analyses, and excellent writing skills, including conveying ideas, writing structure, and grammar. The position also requires superior critical thinking skills, particularly synthesizing a body of research to identify broader themes and convey these themes through written research reports.

The Postdoctoral Fellow may serve as a supervisor to other researchers and students within the research lab.

Dependent on project needs and candidate interest, there is also potential for the individual in this position to conduct qualitative and quantitative data analyses and prepare publications.
