The Asian School of the Environment (ASE) at Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU) is an interdisciplinary school that will be a world leader in environmental research focused on Asian environmental challenges. Professor Simon Redfern’s laboratory at ASE is seeking a Research Assistant (RA) to support a project investigating the impact of Voluntary Carbon Markets (VCMs) on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance in Southeast Asia.

 

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will help collect and manage datasets, conduct interviews, and contribute to analysis and reporting. The role includes synthesising both qualitative and quantitative data, with a focus on Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) and other carbon removal approaches relevant to the ASEAN context. The RA will be based at NTU and work closely with a multidisciplinary team across science, economics, and policy.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Geography, Economics, Public Policy, Sustainability Science, or a related social science or interdisciplinary field

  • Basic understanding of the scientific principles relevant to the research activities

  • Familiarity with ESG frameworks, carbon markets, or climate policy in Southeast Asia is an advantage

  • Experience working with both quantitative and qualitative data; prior exposure to datasets from international or government platforms is a plus

  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to procedures

  • Effective communication and report writing skills

  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills
