Whitworth University seeks a dedicated faculty member to join our Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program as a non-tenured, open-rank professor. This role involves teaching graduate-level MFT courses, supervising practicum and internship students, and mentoring students throughout their academic journeys. The professor will actively engage in the oversight of students’ academic progress, including creating growth plans when necessary and serving on thesis committees.

Responsibilities extend to contributing to the strategic direction and accreditation of the MFT program, serving on the program’s Advisory Board, and implementing assessment plans. This faculty member will also be involved in student recruitment, admissions committee work, and participate in departmental activities, including faculty assemblies, professional development events, and committee assignments.

Candidates are expected to engage in scholarly activities, maintaining an active presence in professional associations at the state, regional, and national levels. This role requires a commitment to upholding Whitworth’s mission of academic excellence, faith integration, and service.

• Teach graduate Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) courses and other courses in the graduate programs as needed.
• Supervise practicum and internship students in the Marriage and Family Therapy program, the MFT Center, and mentor graduate students.
• Monitor the academic progress of students.
• Develop student growth plans as needed.
• Serve on thesis committees.
• Serve on the Marriage and Family Therapy Advisory Board.
• Assist in ensuring that the MFT program complies with accreditation standards.
• Help oversee the implementation of the MFT assessment plan.
• Attend state/national meetings related to the MFT program as needed.
• Assist with student recruitment for the MFT program.
• Serves on MFT admissions committee, participates in departmental activities and governance (i.e., Attend faculty assemblies, professional development days, retreats, committees, and advising.)
• Active involvement in appropriate professional and scholarly activities including research, participation in state, regional, and national professional associations.

Additional responsibilities include participation in departmental activities and governance, professional and research activities, attending state, regional, and national professional association meetings; attending faculty assemblies, development days, and retreats, serving on committees, and advising.

• Earned Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or closely related clinical field. (ABD candidates with an anticipated graduation date before July 2025 will be considered). 
• Must hold current licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or meet the eligibility criteria to obtain LMFT licensure.
• Clinical Fellow status with American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), and Approved Supervisor status with AAMFT (supervisor candidates will be considered).
• University level teaching experience desirable.
• A minimum of three years of experience as an MFT.
• Experience providing clinical supervision.
• Familiarity with integration of technology in education.

Salary Information
Assistant/Associate Professor, Marriage and Family Therapy
Term: 10 months (academic year + 1 month summer)
Assistant Professor Salary: $66,191
Commensurate with years of credited service. 1.75% increase to the minimum salary is granted for each year of credited service at the rank of Assistant Professor.
Associate Professor salary: $72,810
Commensurate with years of credited service. 1.75% increase to the minimum salary is granted for each year of credited service at the rank of Associate Professor.
