The Indiana University Bloomington Libraries seek a creative and enthusiastic individual to work with university partners, faculty, and librarians to envision, develop, and sustain student-centered library services and programming for graduate and undergraduate students and faculty. This position will provide all necessary library support for and serve as liaison to all departments in the School of Education, providing leadership in the development, delivery, and assessment of library services and pursuing partnerships and opportunities to create meaningful co-curricular experiences for students on a residential campus. This will include but is not limited to the development of new programs, support for research and publishing, support for teaching, support for grant funding, and collection development. The Head of the Education Library will report to the Head of the Wells Library Scholars’ Commons Department and coordinate with colleagues in the Libraries' Business, Government Information, and interdisciplinary areas. Currently, this position supervises one full-time professional staff person, the Research and Learning Branch Libraries Public Services Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead the IU Libraries’ services for the School of Education, including workshops and programming for graduate students and pre-service teachers, course-integrated information literacy instruction, and research support. The person in this position should be capable of developing library services, collections, and spaces that support student learning and research, including: Design, create, assess, and manage high-quality programs and services to enable innovative, engaging, and learner-focused learning experiences, Coordinate collection development for Education. Work closely with the classroom faculty in these departments to assess the needs of the academic programs to select library resources in varied formats.

QUALIFICATIONS Required:

ALA-accredited master’s degree or advanced degree in a relevant field; Minimum of two years of experience in a research library setting; Teaching experience and demonstrated knowledge of learning and educational theories, instructional design, pedagogy, and assessment principles for effective information literacy instruction; Ability to meet the requirements of a tenure-track position at the IU Libraries (https://libraries.indiana.edu/file/promotion-and-tenure-criteria-iub-librarians-pdf).
