MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must possess a Ph.D. degree with Arctic specialization or be ABD and demonstrate that a Ph.D. will be obtained prior to the position start date. Scholarship concentrations may include but are not limited to: climate/marine science; economics; operations research and data analytics; Arctic indigenous peoples/culture; ocean/maritime policy; international relations; political science; innovation; emergency management/preparedness and resiliency; maritime/international law; and organizational behavior and management, or other relevant specialty.
MINIMUM SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: None
In addition to the above, highly successful candidates will have a record of scholarship/ publication relevant to contemporary Arctic issues appropriate for the stage of their career and an impressive record in that context. They will have undergraduate teaching experience, which could include teaching assistantship. The professional experience of candidates will also be considered. Excellent interpersonal, teaching, and communications skills are essential and a record of interaction with senior government officials is a plus. Classroom experience teaching and mentoring diverse student populations, and/or experience promoting diversity initiatives ‐ including efforts at creating communities of inclusion ‐ is highly desirable.
