Westmont College invites applications from innovative and collaborative candidates for the position of assistant director of the Westmont in San Francisco Program. The Westmont in San Francisco program is located in a historic home in the Pacific Heights neighborhood in the heart of the city and is one of longest-running off-campus programs at the college. It includes semester-long and summer programs in which students live in community, participate in intensive internships, and take classes which are all embedded in the vibrant context of the city.
The Assistant Director’s responsibilities will include teaching classes (approximately 16-18 units a year), supervising internships with program partners, developing curriculum, and mentoring students. They will also give leadership to creating and implementing a successful marketing, recruitment, and admissions strategy that will bring in approximately 20 students per term. The role is a non-tenure-track faculty position.
While it will be located in San Francisco, travel to the main campus in Santa Barbara and to other partner institutions across the country will be required. A candidate based in Santa Barbara with an ability to travel extensively to San Francisco will also be considered.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D., Master’s degree, or other advanced degree that would support the curricular offerings of the program. We are flexible in specialization but particular areas of interest include business, technology, sociology, environmental studies, and intercultural studies. Other specializations will also be considered.
